50th Anniversary of the First Manned Space Flight

On April 12, 2011 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the stamp “50th anniversary of the first manned space flight”.
The stamp design is granted to member countries of the Universal Postal Union on the occasion of celebrating the 50th anniversary of the flight of Yuri Gagarin.
Artistic design of the sheet: Yevgeni Simonenko. Printing: offset. Colour: full colour. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: comb 133/4: 131/2. Size of the stamp: 26x37 mm. Sheet composition: 8 stamps & 1 coupon. Size of the sheet: 115x145 mm. Print quantity: 105.000 stamps.
 
Letter “H” is equal to the surface tariff of a letter up to 20 gram abroad.

Historical reference: In 2011 it is 50 years since the first manned space flight. On April 12, 1961 the Soviet cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin made the flight round the Earth on the ship “Vostok”. The flight lasted 108 minutes. In the same year the cosmonaut was given the title of a Hero of the Soviet Union.
 
A special cancellation on FDC will be carried out at the Main Post Office of Minsk on the stamp issuing day.
