135th birth anniversary of Yakub Kolas

| On November 2, 2017 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the stamp “135th birth anniversary of Yakub Kolas”. Design: Yelena Medved. Printing: offset. Colour: full colour. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: comb 131/2: 13. Size of the stamp: 37x52mm. Sheet composition: 6 (3x2) stamps. Size of the sheet: 167x124 mm. While printing the stamp they used the technology of thermal stamping by metalized foil of dead golden colour. Print quantity: 48.000 stamps. The stamp was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T. Nepogodin”. Face value N is equal to the surface tariff of a postcard abroad. |

| Yakub Kolas (real name Konstantin Mickiewicz, born October 22, 1882 in Akinchitsy village, Minsk region — died August 13, 1956) was a Belarusian poet, prose writer, playwright, critic, publicist, translator, scientist, educator and public figure. The classic of Belarusian literature, together with Yanka Kupala, was the founder of modern Belarusian literature and the Belarusian literary language. The writer's works have been translated into many foreign languages. The stamp is based on the portrait of Yakub Kolas painted by Mikhail Savitsky (canvas, oil, 1982) from the collection of the National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus. The project was prepared in cooperation with the State Literary-Commemorative Museum of Yakub Kolas, the building of which is depicted on the First Day Cover. |
