| On October 19, 2016 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue 4 stamps of the series “Butterflies”. The series continuation. Beginning Nos. 129-138, 575-578. Artist: Alexander Mityanin. Design: Marina Vitkovskaya. Printing: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: comb 12. Size of the stamps: 40х28 mm. Sheets composition: 5 stamps & 1 coupon. Size of the sheets: 136х77 mm. Print quantity: 75.000 stamps each. The stamps were printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T. Nepogodin”. Face value A is equal to the tariff of a letter up to 20 gram within Belarus. Face value N is equal to the surface tariff of a postcard abroad. Face value M is equal to the air-mail tariff of a postcard abroad. Face value H is equal to the surface tariff of a letter up to 20 gram abroad. |

| The Garden tiger moth (Arctia caja) spreads across Europe. It loves damp places, that is why it is particularly common in river valleys as well as gardens and parks. These species fly in July-August. The moth is nocturnal and can usually be seen flying around a source of light. In danger the butterfly reveals its bright red hind wings scaring off the enemy. The Camberwell beauty (Nymphalis antiopa) is a large butterfly native to Eurasia and North America. It occurs in hardwood forests, forest edges and on the banks of reservoirs. It is a powerful flier and sometimes it can be found in areas far from its usual range during migration. These butterflies have a life-span of 11-12 months — one of the most extensive life-spans for any butterfly. They fly in June-September and then after wintering in April-May. The Six-spot burnet (Zygaena filipendulae) is a common species throughout Europe and Russia. This species can be found in meadows, woodland clearings, sea-cliffs and area rich in grasses and flowers, up to 2000 m altitude. The fore wings are dark metallic green with six vivid red spots. The adults fly on hot, sunny days from June to August and are attracted to a wide variety of flowers. The Six-spot burnet is considered very poisonous. Its blood contains cyanide compounds. The caterpillars are also poisonous. The Eyed hawk-moth (Smerinthus ocellatus) is a European moth. It can also be found in Siberia, Asia and Africa. It flies in May-July. Its eyespots are not visible in resting position, where the fore wings cover them. They are displayed when the moth feels threatened and may startle a potential predator giving the moth a chance to escape. |
