Amphibians are animals capable of living both on land and in water. The European tree frog is spread in the south and south-west territory of Belarus. It typically inhabits mixed and leaf-bearing forests, bushes and meadows. It can be also found in settlements. The common frog is a medium-sized species that inhabits a wide range of places in Belarus. It prefers to live in damp forests. It is rarely found in open biotopes. The pool frog is spread irregularly throughout the whole territory of Belarus. It inhabits a variety of reservoirs, except rapid rivers. It is also often found in damp forests in the south of Belarus and in wet meadows. The fire-bellied toad is found in the most regions of Belarus, except in the north. It inhabits shallow well-warmed waters covered by duckweed and overgrown by other aquatic vegetation. |
