On June 20, 2015 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the souvenir sheet “1000th anniversary of the demise of St. Vladimir” Artist: Alexander Blintsov. Designer: Yelena Medved. Printing: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: oval 133/4. Size of the stamp in the souvenir sheet: 40x56 mm. Size of the souvenir sheet: 72x90 mm.While printing the souvenir sheet they used the technology of relief stamping and thermal stamping by metalized foil of golden colour. Print quantity: 17.000 souvenir sheets. The souvenir sheet was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T. Nepogodin”. Vladimir Sviatoslavich (in baptism Basil, about 960-1015) was the Grand Prince of Kiev (980-1015). In 988 he chose Christianity as the state religion of the Kievan Rus. He built a majestic temple of the Holy Virgin in Kiev. Vladimir Sviatoslavich established political, economic and cultural relations with Byzantium, Bulgaria, Poland and Western European countries. He developed agriculture, handicrafts and construction, opened schools for training the serving nobility and clergy. In the middle of the 13th century the Grand Prince Vladimir was canonized by the Orthodox Church as the Saint Equal to the Apostles. The project was prepared in cooperation with the Belarusian Exarchate of the Moscow Patriarchate. |
