Oriental Calendar 2015

On February 19, 2015 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the souvenir sheet “Oriental Calendar 2015”.

Designer: Yelena Medved. Printing: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: round 13^3/4. Size of the stamp in the souvenir sheet: diameter 40 mm. Size of the souvenir sheet: 94x79 mm. While printing the souvenir sheet they used the technology of relief stamping and thermal stamping by metalized foil of gold colour. Print quantity: 20.000 souvenir sheets.

 

The souvenir sheet was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T.  Nepogodin”.

 

The oriental calendar is widespread In the East. In this calendar the years are arranged into 12-year cycles. Each successive year is named after one of 12 animals. According to the oriental mythology people are assigned certain characteristics of the animal corresponding to the year in which they were born. In the Chinese zodiac 2015 is the year of the Blue Wooden Goat. In some countries the Goat is replaced by the Sheep but it does not change the essence of the year. In accordance with the Oriental calendar the year of the Goat will start on February 19, 2015 and will run until February 7, 2016.
