Space explorers born in Belarus

On April 12, 2014 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the souvenir sheet “Space explorers born in Belarus”.
Designer: Ivan Lukin. Printing: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: frame 131/2: 133/4. There are 4 stamps in the souvenir sheet. Size of the stamps: 37x26 mm. Face value of each stamp: N. Size of the souvenir sheet: 86x90 mm. Print quantity: 15.000 souvenir sheets.
 
The souvenir sheet was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T.  Nepogodin”.
 
Letter “N” is equal to the surface tariff of a postcard abroad.
 
Pyotr Klimuk (born July 10, 1942 in Komarovka village of Brest region) is a former Soviet cosmonaut and the first Belarusian to perform space travel. Klimuk made three flights into space. Klimuk is a colonel-general of aviation. He is a twice Hero of the Soviet Union. He is a scientist in the field of technical sciences. Pyotr Klimuk is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics and member of the International Academy of Astronautics.
Vladimir Kovalyonok (born March 3, 1942 in Beloye village of Minsk region) is a retired Soviet cosmonaut. He entered the Soviet space programme in 1967 and he was a commander of three missions. Kovalyonok is a colonel-general of aviation. He is a twice Hero of the Soviet Union, a Hero of GDR and a Hero of Mongolia. He is a scientist in the field of military sciences. Vladimir Kovalyonok is an Academician of the Russian Academy of Cosmonautics.
Oleg Novitskiy (born October 12, 1971 in Cherven town of Minsk region) is a test-cosmonaut of the Russian Cosmonaut Training Centre from 2006. He was sent into space as part of the Soyuz crew from October 2012 till March 2013. He has a military rank of aviation colonel. Oleg Novitskiy was awarded some medals for serving in the Air Force. He holds the title “Combat Veteran”.
