World summit on the information society

Historical reference. On December 10-12, 2003 in Geneva (Switzerland) the first phase of the Summit was held under the auspices of UN Secretary-General. The second phase will take place on November 16-18, 2005 in Tunis. The aim of the Forum is to work out and adopt a document determining the policy and real steps to achieve the objects of the Information Society. The Plan should express multilateral interests of all parties. The International Telecommunications Union (ITU) plays a key role in organizing the Summit and cooperates with all interested parties including the Universal Postal Union (UPU). Heads of States and Governments, leaders of different organizations and UN departments, representatives of industry, non-government and public organizations, mass media will take part in the Summit.
Special cancellation: a special cancellation on FDC will be carried out at the Main Post Office of Minsk on the stamps issuing day.
