On July 10, 2019 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the stamp “Slonim” of the series “Towns of Belarus”. A series continuation. Beginning Nos.1032, 1153, 1207, 1214, 1261 and 1274. Design: Yauheniya Biadonik. Print process: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforations: comb 13. Stamp size: 52x29,6 mm. Sheet composition: 6 (2x3) stamps. Sheet size: 130x120 mm. Print quantity: 42.000 stamps. Printer: Republican Unitary Enterprise “Belarusian Printing House Publishing Co.”. Letter “M” is equal to the air-mail tariff of a postcard abroad. |

Slonim is a town in the Grodno region, the administrative centre of the Slonim district. The first written reference to Uslonim was made in the Ipatiev Chronicle under the year 1252. In 1410 the Slonim Regiment participated in the Battle of Grunwald. The history of the town on the Shchara River is inseparably linked with the families of Sapegas, Oginskies and Puslovskies, whose manor Albertine is one of the visiting cards of the town. Just 10 kilometres from Slonim is the Zhirovichi Holy Dormition Stavropegic Monastery. |
