On September 1, 2017 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the souvenir sheet “500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing”. Artist: Tatyana Dolskaya. Design: Marina Vitkovskaya. Printing: offset. Colour: full colour with additional paint like bronze. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: frame 12. Size of the stamp in the souvenir sheet: 28x40 mm. Size of the souvenir sheet: 97x72 mm. While printing the souvenir sheet they used the technology of thermal stamping by metalized foil of golden colour. Print quantity: 20.000 souvenir sheets. The souvenir sheet was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T. Nepogodin”. Face value “P” is equal to the air-mail tariff of a letter up to 20 gram abroad. Many centuries had passed before the first printed book appeared in Belarus. Francysk Skaryna was the founder of book printing among the Eastern Slavs. In 1517 he founded a printing house in Prague and published “The Psalter" that was the first printed Belarusian book. The 500th anniversary of the Belarusian book printing is a date of world significance included in the UNESCO List of Memorable Dates. The stamp is based on a page from “The Psalter”. The project was prepared in cooperation with the National Library of Belarus. |
