Slutsk is a town in Minsk region. It is an administrative centre of Slutsk district. It was first mentioned in writing in 1116 as one of the towns of the Principality of Turov. It became the capital of a separate Slutsk Principality in 1160. From 1320-1330 it was a part of the domain of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania. Slutsk district is famous for its warriors, sponsors, government officials. The town is also famous for its Saint Sofia of Slutsk, who is among All Belarusian Saints. She is the ideal of piety and great spiritual generosity.
