Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro

On June 7, 2016 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the souvenir sheet “Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro”.

 

Design: Yelena Medved. Printing: offset. Colour: multicoloured. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: oval 13^3/4. Size of the stamp in the souvenir sheet: 56x40 mm. Size of the souvenir sheet: 75x77 mm. Print quantity: 12.000 souvenir sheets.

 

The stamp was printed at the Republican Unitary Enterprise “Bobruisk Integrated Printing House named after A. T.  Nepogodin”.

 

Letter “P” is equal to the air-mail tariff of a letter up to 20 gram abroad.

 

The Games of the XXXI Olympiad are scheduled to take place in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) from 5 to 21 August 2016. These will be the first Summer Olympic Games taking place in South America, the second in Latin America after the 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico City (Mexico), and the first since 2000 to be held in the Southern Hemisphere.

 

Rio de Janeiro was selected as the host city on October 2, 2009 during the 121st IOC Session held in Copenhagen (Denmark).

 

The souvenir sheet was printed with the logo of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro and the emblem of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus. The emblem is also to be seen on the First Day Cover.
