On September 24, 2010 the Ministry of Communications and Informatization of the Republic of Belarus will issue the stamp “Municipal arms of Lida” from the series “Municipal arms of Belarus towns”.
A series continuation. Beginning Nos. 403-404, 445, 495-496, 529-530, 593-595, 633-634, 675-676, 756-758, 794, 795, 850. Designer: Yauheniya Biadonik. Printing: offset. Colour: full colour. Paper: chalk-surfaced, gummed. Perforation: comb 141/4: 14. Size of the stamp: 28x30 mm. Sheet composition: 9 (3x3) stamps. Size of the sheet: 116x125 mm. Print quantity of the stamp: 45.000.
There are elements of protection on the stamp.
Historical reference: A municipal arms of Lida represents the image of a baroque shield divided into 2 parts — red and blue. On the red ground there is a standing gold lion. On the blue ground there are 2 crossed gold keys.
A municipal arms of Lida dates from the end of XVI century and has historical and cultural value because it is the result of development of heraldic traditions of Western Europe. A lion is depicted on municipal arms of Poland, France and Germany. Two keys you can see on the municipal arms of the towns of Belarus, Germany and others.
The modern municipal arms of Lida is registered in the Heraldic matriculation of the Republic of Belarus on May 30, 2002 under No. 85.
